How to Play

The Rules

A season-long chase for the flag. Draft your clubs, and every AFL result becomes yours.

01

Basic Structure

  • All 18 AFL clubs get drafted between the players in your league.
  • Everyone drafts an equal share — 6 players take 3 clubs each, 9 players take 4.
  • Clubs can be co-owned: a popular club may have more than one owner, and its results count for each.
  • You earn points from your clubs' results every round.
  • Most points at season's end takes the flag.
02

Scoring

For each club you own, per game:

4Win
2Draw
0Loss
0Bye
If two of your own clubs play each other, you're paid as if they drew — 2 points from each, 4 in total.
03

The Snake Draft

The order reverses every round to keep it fair — last pick of one round gets first pick of the next.

R11 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7 → 8 → 9
R29 → 8 → 7 → 6 → 5 → 4 → 3 → 2 → 1
R31 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7 → 8 → 9
R49 → 8 → 7 → 6 → 5 → 4 → 3 → 2 → 1

Example: a 9-player league. Your league snakes the same way, however many of you there are.

04

Draft Strategy

  • Pick any available club when it's your turn — no preset tiers.
  • Stronger clubs tend to go early.
  • Each club can only be taken twice.
  • Timing is everything: when do you spend a pick?
05

Worked Example

Round 1 forward
  1. Player 1 picks first (Pick 1)
  2. Player 2 picks second (Pick 2)
  3. … through to the last player
Round 2 reversed
  1. Last player picks first
  2. Then second-last
  3. … back to Player 1

This continues until everyone's roster is full.

06

The Flag

Most points at season's end is crowned champion. Standings tally after every round, so the race is always live.
07

Balance

Everyone drafts the same number of clubs and the snake order keeps selection even — no one gets an unfair run at the board.

Prizes and stakes are up to your league — the app just runs the draft and the ladder.
